Notre Dame: Fighting Irish
Count me among those who never would have guessed that Notre Dame would emerge as the top team in college football at the end of the regular season. Alas, here we are! Hats off to the Fighting Irish for finishing on top. I'm counting down the days until the showdown with Alabama in the BCS Championship Game (January 7, 2013 -- mark your calendars).
In honor of Notre Dame's undefeated season, a few bright and shiny pieces:

It's Lonely (But Also Fabulous) at the Top
Eight weeks into the 2012 college football season and Alabama has emerged as the undisputed leader. Apart from leading the AP Top 25 every week, Alabama also landed at the top of the season's first BCS standings this week (props to my beloved Florida Gators for finishing first among all teams who aren't Alabama).
This week's tribute to the Crimson Tide is a singularly fabulous bag that, just like Alabama, is in a class of its own. And because this is such a special occasion, I've rolled out an equally fabulous red carpet. Really.

UCLA Bruins
(Editor's Note: This tribute to the Bruins is 2 days late! To compensate for the delay, I added a little extra sparkle. Happy Friday!)
The UCLA Bruins emerge as the number twenty five team this week (last week's honoree fell out of the Top 25 this week, but only after a hard-fought, offense-dominated battle against West Virginia on Saturday). Here's a little blue and gold to welcome the Bruins to the club:

Stilettos on the Gridiron: Baylor Bears
This week's second installment of Stilettos on the Gridiron features the Baylor Bears, who, at 3-0 three weeks into the season, seem to be adjusting to life without RG3 rather well. (Speaking of RG3, here's hoping that he's taking it easy -- well, as easy as an NFL starting quarterback can take it in the middle of the season -- following Sunday's game.) In honor of Baylor coming in at #25 in this week's AP Poll, a little salute to the Green and Gold:

Styled by College Football
Before I started blogging at Ruby Perrin, I was blogging at Stilettos on the Gridiron -- named to reflect my dueling complementary interests in style and sports. A few weeks into this year's college and pro football seasons and it's clear to me that my obsession with football has gone, well, nowhere. In honor of that obsession, I'm launching a new series here on Ruby Perrin called (wait for it) . . . Stilettos on the Gridiron. Each week, I'll be posting a design board inspired by the #1 and #25 teams in that week's AP Top 25. The top team will be featured on Mondays, and the team coming in at number twenty-five (a feat equally worthy of a little style celebration) will be featured on Wednesdays. It's Monday, so let's get started with the very first design board, brought to us by...
